First Blog Post

Hello readers!  This is a blog created by a Fordham student that will be about the 2014 World Cup, and will offer insight into the 32 teams involved.  Each post will offer insight to a different country's team, and the earlier posts will rank the teams least probable of winning the Cup.  As more posts are made, the teams will become stronger and stronger until I make my final post, which will be about the team I feel will win the cup.  This blog will essentially serve as a handbook-it will have all the essential information you need to know about each team when watching the games.  So stay tuned for the reviews of each team!

  1. Great idea for a blog! How long before the U.S. has a soccer team that can be truly competitive on a global stage? I think there's enough interest in soccer by young people, so what's keeping schools, American sports journalists, advertisers, television networks, etc. from taking the sport seriously to raise it up to the level of other professional American sports?

    1. I don't think U.S. Soccer is too far from being truly competitive. U.S. has attained some quality wins in recent friendly matches against Italy and Germany. I think the sport is growing rapidly here due to the greater exposure to the English Premier League. The EPL has some strong U.S. players that feature in it including Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey (on loan from Seattle) and the MLS is starting to get really strong players at the end of their careers. The MLS is even getting some of the best American players to come back and play here over Serie A in Italy and the EPL. I think in 20 years U.S. will be a lot stronger than now, but the team is heading in the right direction for sure.
